OUR FAMILY
We’re Frank, Andrea, Mac and Sophie, two of five generations of farmers living and working from the Marlivale homestead on Widjabul country. Formerly known as Nimbin Valley Pecans and Rice, we’ve transformed what was once a dairy farm into an expanse of pecan orchards and stretches of rice fields. Restoring a biologically rich landscape and employing a soil-first approach, we’ve been proudly feeding the community seasonally grown premium pecans and dryland rice since Frank & Andrea’s take over in 1988.
Everything about us is homegrown, including some of the farmers! After travelling around Australia together, Frank Boyle and his wife Andrea met in Yulara and came to settle on the Boyle family property, restoring the derelict farmhouse into the beautiful Marlivale homestead it is today. Here they raised three girls, and like father like daughter, the youngest Sophie moved back from Melbourne with her husband Macaulay Dixon in late 2020 to pursue a life on the land. We couldn’t be happier to have them and see the farm move towards a more sustainable future, just as Frank and Andrea have designed.
We believe that in life you reap what you sow, which is why we couldn’t be prouder to eat what we grow. Our all natural farming practices are focused on restoring the harm that’s been done to the land in the past, and nurturing it towards a more fruitful future that we hope continues to feed generations to come.
